Date: December 2009 (exact dates to be confirmed)
Because Professor Paul Swatman has accepted an invitation to join its external advisory board, research students at InSyL have the opportunity to participate, either in person or virtually, in a European Information Systems Doctoral School – a collaborative venture established in 2008 between the University of Zurich and the Technical University of Munich. Professor Swatman led the School’s first workshop series held in May 2008 at the University of Zurich; and, in June 2009, Professor Robert Briggs of the University of Nebraska led the second workshop series, held in Zurich with a video link to TU Munich. InSyL students have all participated in instances of the 2008 workshop which have been pre- and re-presented locally. In December of 2009, Professor Paul Swatman, Professor Paula Swatman (of InSyL) and Professor Felix Hampe of the University of Koblenz will lead an enhanced re-presentation and of the June 2009 workshop. The centrepiece of this workshop will be audio-video recordings of Professor Briggs original presentations, supplemented by discussions and exercises and additional presentations by the workshop leaders. We anticipate that InSyL students will participate in the 2010 workshop in “realtime” – some by travelling to Zurich/Munich, others virtually by AV-link.
